Benefits of Spiritual Healing

Posted by melrose  at 05:36

Spiritual healing is, by definition, the use of non-physical means to treat illness or affliction. Sometimes referred to as “faith healing,” spiritual healing is a type of treatment generally considered to be classified as “alternative” or non-traditional. Yet the roots of spiritual healing go back for centuries, and some form of this treatment have been shown to exist is almost every culture known to history.
Edward Bourne, who authored “The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook,” lists some of the benefits of spiritual healing as a feeling of security and safety, peace of mind, self-confidence and the capacity to give and receive unconditional love.

Many types of spiritual healing involve energy, both inside and outside of the body. The objective of most methods is to cleanse and clear the body’s life force of negative obstructions, so that the mind, body and soul can harmonize. Many spiritual health practitioners see this as the only true path to whole health.

It is commonly believed by spiritual healing enthusiasts that any ailment, be it physical, mental or emotional, begins in the mind, at least in some part. So when mind, body and spirit work together, the ailment can begin to heal.

Many modern healthcare practitioners are beginning to realize the benefits of incorporating a spiritual aspect into a patient’s care, and in fact some HMOs and medical facilities are offering these services. The medical evidence does suggest that spiritual healing, in complement with traditional medical care, can increase positive outcomes for patients with a range of conditions. Specific studies suggest benefits in cancer patients, new moms, people suffering from depressive disorders, and cardiac patients, among others.

Obviously, “healing” is a general term. So let’s look more closely at some of the benefits that have been documented as a result of a few of the different variations of spiritual healing.

Reiki, a well-known and much practiced method developed in the early 20th Century, channels energy through the hands of a practitioner through the body of the patient. Positive results have been recorded in the form of reduced heart rate and reduced diastolic blood pressure. Relief from depression and anxiety has also been attributed to Reiki therapy.

Polarity Therapy has been around since the mid-20th Century. It offers treatment using the body’s energy as well as a combination of diet, exercise, self-awareness and other factors. The body’s ailments are diagnosed through verbal means as well as touch. This therapy is thought to aid stress reduction, relief of migraine headaches, allergies, digestive disorders, PMS symptoms, body pain and fatigue. It has also reportedly helped with pregnancy and post-natal care.

Qi Gong (sometimes spelled Chi Kung), a Chinese method of healing that has been practiced for over 2,000 years, is a combination of exercise and the cultivation of qi (life force) energies. Discipline of the body plays a key role, and there are exercises to help regulate the body (posture), mind (through relaxation) and the breath. There are moving and still variations. Besides curing illness, its benefits are believed to include a stronger body including the diaphragm and cardiovascular system, a regulated central nervous system and cerebral cortex, greater synchronization of the brain waves, increased lung capacity and a more effective immune system.

And then, there’s good old-fashioned prayer. Prayer can be done in a group or by oneself. It can be practiced even when the person being prayed for has no knowledge of such. Many studies have been done to validate the effectiveness of prayer. It can help with the health and well-being of the person being prayed for – but it also brings a sense of peace to the person doing the praying.

Relaxation and Yoga Have a Deep Relationship

Posted by melrose  at 15:17

Relaxation and Yoga have a deep, intertwined relationship, a relationship that was discovered thousands of years ago even before the word tension was coined. According to Yogic principles, relaxation is relief from stress. It eases physical and mental tension, rejuvenates the nervous system and brings about inner peace.

Yoga insists that it is essential to let go of stress and feel relaxed because a relaxed body and mind are the keys to a long and healthy life. Once the tension has been eased from your muscles, your body conserves the energy it produces. If, however, you are prone to high levels of stress -- as many people are in today’s world -- your body will continually employ the energy it produces, even when you are asleep. Needless to say, this is a harmful predicament because we need our energy to help us get through everyday functions. An overworked system loses its ability to perform consistently, and the natural efficiency to function breaks down.

Yoga describes three levels of relaxation: physical, mental and spiritual. Perfect relaxation is possible only when you reach the stage of spiritual relaxation, but this often takes a lifetime of meditation to achieve.

Focusing on the first aspect of physical relaxation is the popular Yogic posture called Savasana or the ‘Corpse Posture’. Here you lie flat on your back, arms and feet slightly apart, eyes partially open in dim light. After you clear your mind of all thoughts, you start working on relaxing your body, toes upward. With the help of a soothing voice, or even by yourself, you learn to let down guard and feel a sense of lightness all over your body from toe to head. This is the ultimate way to calm down and it barely takes a few minutes.

Another area that you should focus on is your breathing. One proper breathing cycle involves a long, deep inhalation using the power of your lungs to intake as much oxygen as possible, holding your breath for a split second and letting it out, ideally along with all the negativity from your system.

Yoga breathing exercises or Pranayama teaches you how your breathing can cleanse your body of all its stress and negative energy. This simple process of inhalation, retention and exhalation, if perfected, can revitalize the body and regulate the flow of energy or the life force, (Prana) into your mind.

Posted by melrose  at 12:32

The City has in many opinions a number of the finest museums on earth in truth it has several hundreds of museums and exhibitions both big and little. There are lots to opt from although for obvious reasons a small number of them are more visited than others. Some of the best ones to take a look at today are the British Museum, Natural History and Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Imperial War Museum & the National Maritime Museum.

The British Museum is currently open again, but with a large refurbishment and is widely talked as being the best museum in the whole world where over three-thousand year old Egyptian Kings witness a considerably more crowded afterlife than they had predicted. Located in the Centre of London this is undoubtedly one of the finest museums in The City to drop in at. There are oodles of recent collected works and corridors to glimpse at, some of which include the reading room & the most recent African collection, which experts advertise as being the planet's largest & unsurpassed in terms of scope & quality with in excess of two-hundred thousand historical objects. The Natural History and Science Museums are fitting for either kids & adults.

The Natural History Museum structure is magnificent any dinosaur buff beyond a doubt will want to get lost in the full history that goes with this special museum.

The Science Museum is astonishing, and very rapid in terms of when breakthroughs are exposed. There are several scientists on site preparing authentic research that you can take part in if you crave. There are lots of exhilarating hands on things to do for both adolescents & adults. Check out Time Out today for the latest information on London's Museums and Attractions.

The Victoria & Albert museum also more commonly known as the V&A is a big museum crammed with customs. It is worth a journey just for the cast digs alone. The museum itself is free to enter and is the earth's major decorative and arts and design museum. The Imperial War Museum looks a lot at the history of the imperial world war rather than its prosecution. Some specific displays such as “The Blitz” and “The Holocaust” are exceptionally moving.

Graphic Design

Posted by melrose  at 09:26

Trying to make it in the art world is extremely difficult. There are so many people who try and so few people who do it successfully. Poor artists are even more common than poor jazz musicians. Basically, getting discovered is almost impossible. Until you find a rich art patron who really likes your work, you won't have any luck.

That is why so many artists get into graphic design work. Graphic designers are the success stories of the art world in my opinion. With graphic design jobs, you get to do it all. Not only do you get to design logos, work on marketing and branding strategy, and do other business stuff like that, but you also get to do beautiful, expressive layout. Working as a graphic designer really allows you to make a reputation for yourself, and that reputation can be the beginning of a great career.

A lot of graphic designers start out in graphic design school, but just as many of them start out in a college art school program or in computer programming. Freelance graphic design, a matter of fact, is becoming one of the most popular fields in high tech right now. A lot of web designers don't work for any major company. Instead, they have an eclectic mix of different skills that allows them to formulate a unique business plan that is all their own. These graphic designers will know a good bit of web programming, quite a bit of art, be skilled at website optimization, and know how to do marketing and branding as well. Clients both small and large will pick these guys up rather than work with the major graphic design firms a lot of the time.

Of course, the majority of graphic designers still work at the old-fashioned firms. These are great places to make your career. The great thing about being a graphic designer is that a lot of the people who are your clients are also major players in the art world. After all, people who really appreciate good logo design also appreciate art quite frequently. Working for world-class businesses, you can really get an in to the art world if you play your cards right. It is all a matter of taking advantage of the opportunities as they come. Networking in art, as in any other field, is 80% of success. The other 20% -- the talent – is crucial, but it is not the most important thing when you are beginning.

As much as we do to our hair, it is very important to make sure that it is very clean so that you are going to have a clean base to work with.

You must also eat right in order to maintain black hair growth. It is a good idea to eat a well balanced diet and to stay away from too much sugar. If you have poor diet it can be seen in your hair quality. Your hair feeds off of your body and everything that you eat is being transported to your hair. When you are eating the wrong foods, your hair may become dry which could result in hair loss.

Acne Cleanser

Posted by melrose  at 13:29

In searching for an acne cleanser, many people begin at their nearby Long's, Walgreen's, or Rite Aid. The aisles are full of various popular brands of cleansing bars, deep cleansing lotions, scrubs, toners, masks, black head removal strips, and more. Each person who buys one or more of these products buys them with hope, thinking perhaps they will help give them skin like that of the models on the cover of the packages. Sometimes these products work, and sometimes they don't. If they don't work for you, it gets very expensive going through the various acne cleansers in search of the one that will bring you the clear skin you've been dreaming of.

One alternative is to go to Costco. They often sell Neutrogena and other acne products at a big discount. You have to buy several bottles or at least one great big bottle, but if you've already tried the acne cleanser and you know it works for you, and want to keep using it, it makes sense to buy it in larger quantities at a store like Costco and save some money.

Some people think paying big bucks for a product that's promoted specifically as an acne cleanser is a waste of time. Do you ever wonder what people did before all these acne products were produced and sold? Some just used regular soap and hoped for the best. Some used various herbal applications and had good results.

What sorts of herbs or other common ingredients might make a good acne cleanser? Here's one: oatmeal and cornmeal mixed with plain yogurt. This makes a gentle cleanser that has a bit of exfoliating action.  For this gentle acne cleanser, use 1/2 cup of either oatmeal or cornmeal and mix it with enough plain yogurt to turn it into a paste. Then apply to the face (avoiding the eye area) and wash off with water. Oatmeal tends to absorb things (such as oil and dirt) and it also helps soften the skin.

A facial mask to use after your acne cleanser is a combination of apples and honey. Grate one medium-size apple and mix it with about five tablespoons of honey. Apply it to your face (avoiding the eyes) and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then splash it off with cool water. This is a great treatment for oily skin, and certainly costs less than a mask on sale at the drug store.
